Last Sunday, the Seymour's introduced us to one of their favorite breakfast places for late morning brunch (followed by an amazingly invigorating walk around Greenlake). Housed in the beautifully renovated Ballard Firehouse, Hi-Life serves delicious and unique breakfast (and lunch/dinners, too).Highlight of the a.m. - Brian ordering "fancy" French toast, two huge slices of crusty and thick Essential Bakery bread cooked to a crisp, deep golden brown and slathered in a lavender syrup. He saved me one small bite....it was heaven! My spicy huevos rancheros (called huevos Emilia) was complemented by an even spicier Bloody Mary (note to self.....great Bloody Mary's are hard to find....keep this place on radar). Sonja's asparagus omelet looked farm fresh, full of herbs and interesting spices (Brian and I scavenged her flavorful hash browns) and Geoff had another variation of "fancy" French Toast with an espresso like hazelnut mascarpone (it glistened under an amber syrup).
