Brian and I had a wonderful Christmas in Tacoma this year. We had good weather the days before Christmas and enjoyed a day in downtown Seattle, an afternoon exploring Edmonds and a wonderful and relaxing Christmas Eve at home. Brian made two yummy quiches (broccoli-cheddar and Lorraine) and we sipped on baileys Irish Cream and listened to Christmas music on Christmas Eve. I managed to stay awake long enough to watch the 1938 version on "A Christmas Carol" (someone else was sleeping) before visions of sugarplums danced in my head!
Christmas Morning was a present FRENZY! Santa spoiled both of us. Brian received a gift certificate from Santa himself for a new bike along with a historical book on baseball that included a DVD, a brass rain gauge and a long sleeved T-shirt from his Alma Mater, Mesa State.
Santa brought Stacy the gift she's been asking for since July, an ice cream maker along with the most comfortable bathrobe she's ever put on and Seattle Mariner's socks, an M's gift card and a pair of beautiful pearl earrings.
We both hope Santa brought all of you a relaxing day spent with the ones you love!
With just a few days left in the holiday shopping seasons, Brian and I took time out to drive from Tacoma to Seattle for what is becoming an annual event. This year neither of us were sick (YIPPEE) and we were able to explore downtown (Westlake Center) and do a lot of window shopping. We had a great lunch at PF Chang's and a bit of holiday cheer before meeting up with good friends Sonja and Geoff for a fantastic dinner at Il Fornio.

Tuesday night Sandra and Stacy (Chick and Princess) exchanged gifts over a bottle of pink champagne and garden burgers with french fries. Chick loves her new Olympus digital camera, homemade garden tile and Mexico 2007 book, which will help her map out her cruise in April.
Stacy got not ONE but TWO great cookbooks by her two favorite Food TV hosts, Ina Garten (The Barefoot Contessa) and Jamie Oliver (The Naked Chef). It looks like I'll be doing a lot of cooking in the new year. I also love my new Old Navy PJ's, brown shoe boots and Calvin Klein "Euphoria" perfume.

We spent Saturday in Eugene celebrating Christmas with my parents as well as my dad's 63rd birthday.
We had a wonderful lunch at Marche in the 5th Street Public Market. Dad and I split a 1/2 dozen willipa bay oysters on the half shell. YUMMO!
After lunch, we dropped Sandra off at Phyllis and Lester Kraal's house for a bit of Christmas cheer! Lester's separator cocktails were something else.
Dad loved his Elvis Presley wine as well as his CD with the 50's hit "The Happy Whistler".
Brian and I were spoiled with a T-Fal cookware set that will be put to good use this year for Christmas dinner. In addition, Brian was given a brown suede jacket from my parents that he hasn't taken off since he first put it on!
It was a great day, enjoyed by all!
Brian's power finally came back on after Thursday night's big wind storm. Luckily, he was in Portland over the weekend, but he's guessing that he was without power over 48 hours.

There is still an estimated 225,000 without power into their 5th day.

Brian and I put up the first Christmas tree at Westridge on Sunday afternoon. Brian thought my noble fir at Rebecca Lane was so beautiful that we picked out one for the apartment. It's about 6.5 feet tall and fits perfectly in the living room (lots of room for Santa's presents). We picked up some new ornaments at Wight's Home and Garden in Lynnwood, WA www.wights.com a few weeks ago and this year's tree is the prettiest we have decorated together.

Brian and I had a great time at the Russell Christmas Party on Saturday night held at the Boeing Museum of Flight. Don't we look great all dressed up!
We estimated that there were about 1,000 employees and partners at the event on Saturday night and it was nice to meet some of the people that Brian's been working with for the past 90 days.
We had access to the entire Flight Museum, including the historic Red Barn, the birthplace of the Boeing Company. The Museum of Flight opened its first wing on Boeing Field in 1983 in the historic "Red Barn," the company's original manufacturing plant. Built in 1909, the Red Barn was donated to The Museum of Flight by the Port of Seattle in 1975 and moved to its present location at Boeing Field/King County International Airport that same year.
The main event was held in the "Great Gallery", which is a 3 million-cubic-foot, six-story glass-and-steel exhibit hall currently containing 39 full-size historic aircraft, 23 of which, including the nine-ton Douglas DC-3, hang from the space-frame ceiling. The hanging aircraft trace the history of the first century of flight. Pretty Cool!
They had flight simulators you could check out, but to be honest it looked rather nauseating (the things moved up/down and sideways). So for those of us who preferred to keep their feet on the ground they had blackjack, craps and one lone roulette table crammed into the back corner. They gave us one orange chip each, valued at $50,000 and it was fun to "pretend" we were high rollers!
They set up two buffet areas with everything from chicken satays to sliced roast beef, cheese, pasta salads and three different kinds of hummus dip with pita bread. I made Brian stuff a few thumbprint jam cookies into his pockets for the car ride home!
It was a really neat event and I felt like a Princess all dressed up in my new cocktail attire (Brian looked pretty sharp in his new jacket). Aside from the really bad disco band, the evening was wonderful!

I had dinner with the Hygelund's last night (okay, maybe just Debi). It was the first time I had been to Canby in about a year! Life on the farm is good. Both boys (Miles, 15 and Noel 11) are into wrestling. Miles is ranked in the state of Oregon at 135 pounds and has his first meet today. Good Luck, Miles!
Debbie made this amazing soy/ginger/wasabi glazed Ahi tuna, which she seared on all sides and left bright pink in the middle (good job, Deb)! She also broiled some cod and scallops and had a pot of brown rice.
Unfortunately, Lloyd had to go coach Noel's wrestling team so I didn't get to spend much time catching up with him, but I'll be back on the 18th of December for some "holiday cheer" and maybe a little of Debi's famous Southern Comfort Punch she was telling me about - http://www.recipelink.com/gm/31/569, to which she adds sliced lemons and oranges sprinkled with colored sugar and partially frozen. Sounds Yummy! Always good to catch up with my best friend since the 3rd grade (that's almost 30 years).
