Birthday Dinner - Ringside I am not officially 40 (I am holding onto these last 4 days at 39), but Dad and Rosemary treated the family to a birthday dinner in my honor at Portland's Famous RingSide last Saturday night.

It wouldn't be a party if we didn't start out with a few cocktails at Rebecca Lane.
You can't have too much fun!?

The RingSide Steakhouse celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2004. It’s remarkable - the same family has owned and operated this nationally famous steakhouse for six decades. That’s not only a hallmark for a restaurant, it’s impressive for any business entering the 21st century.

RingSide Steakhouse has received many awards over the years, but, the most appreciated are Tom Horan’s America’s Top Ten Steakhouses since 1998; Prime Time Top 10 Steakhouses since 1999; Wine Spectator Magazine’s Best of Award of Excellence since 2002; and, then the much coveted 2003 Award of Excellence – DiRoNA Award - from Distinguished Restaurants of North America. The famous James Beard once claimed - the RingSide's onion rings were “the best I ever had”. We all shared a family sized serving and they were irresistible!
Despite the location on a rather unattractive stretch of West Burnside - and the darkened ambiance inside (I think you should be able to read the menu) - it's easy to see why this place has been around so's the steaks, baby. The "Birthday girl" had an 8oz filet (I could have eaten with a spoon) and three butterflied and lightly breaded prawns. The potato comes with all the fixings and the pre-dinner Caesar was lightly dressed and presented with shaved Parmesan cheese.
The ever evolving menu offers the steak aficionado perfectly-seasoned USDA Prime beef. In addition, diners may select chops, chicken, and Northwest seafood. Wines from around the world are offered but a special selection of Northwestern wines highlight the extensive list of some 700 labels. This is a traditional American steakhouse. BRAVO!

The evening ended with cupcakes from Cup Cake Jones (thank you Chick)! Just what every birthday girl desires.
