Last Saturday night we checked out a new restaurant (I bought a Groupon over the summer) called Ship Canal Grill.
Located in the Eastlake neighborhood and nestled on the east side of Lake Union, this nautical themed bar/restaurant has a very industrial feel and includes many old photos from the establishment of the neighborhood back in the early 1900's, including the many houseboats that line the lake.
The menu is heavily influenced with flavors from the pacific northwest, including salmon, fish and chips and chowder (think bar food on steroids). Their menu prices are reasonable, but drop dramatically during two happy hours, daily (3-6:30 and 10-close).
Our Groupon entitled us to two, 3-course meals including a bottle of wine ($36) so it was a real deal and a great way to experience the menu.
Brian had fish and chips and I had a pesto glazed salmon with seasonal vegetables and smashed red potatoes. For dessert, we split a slice of cheesecake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side.
The restaurant offers music almost nightly and has a great happy hour and bar (the dawg den is upstairs with plenty of TV's for the big game).
Although it's a little out of the way or our neighborhood, the Groupon was a wonderful way to experience a place that we wouldn't probably have stumbled upon any other way.
If you are in the area, check them out!
