Weekend Wrap Up: Road Trip to Rick Springfield

Last Friday night, Chick and I drove north to Seattle for the weekend.

Saturday morning was perfect for a walk up to Meander's Kitchen for breakfast.  So filling.....we didn't need anything the rest of the day!

Saturday afternoon, Brian drove us down to Katie Downs one of our favorite "21 and over" restaurants/pubs right on the Foss Waterway in Tacoma.

Established in 1982, Katie Downs Tavern is a great pub that has over-the-water dining with a great atmosphere and beautiful views of the Olympic and Cascade mountains as well as Puget Sound. It's a great place to watch a game.....flat screen plasma TVs situated throughout the bar/restaurant are perfect for viewing all your favorite sporting events.

Despite it being a rather gloomy weather day, we managed to get enough of a break in the rain to sit outside on the patio.

Then we headed off to the Emerald Queen Casino to see 80's heartthrob, Rick Springfield.  We've been following Rick since he played Dr. Noah Drake on General Hospital and came out with his first hit album "Working Class Dog" in 1981, but back in 1998 we saw Rick at a spring fling concert at the Rose Garden in Portland and we were hooked on him all over again.

To date, we've seen Rick perform in the Pacific Northwest about 8-10 times since 1998 (including 3 times at the Emerald Queen Casino).

Let me tell you.....for 62 (63 in August), he still knows how to ROCK!
