21/52: Memorial Day Weekend

Flower arrangement courtesy of my Mom.  Roses from our garden (first cutting of the year) and snapdragons that wintered over.

Sweet Keikei

After a busy few weekends, my goal was to nap, read, BBQ, sip Chardonnay, plant flowers and ride my bike this weekend!

The bad news is that I accomplished NONE OF IT!

Instead, I spent the entire Memorial Day weekend sick with a head/chest cold either in bed or on the couch.

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!  I am planning on making up for it next weekend with another long weekend in Seattle

Enjoy!

Sick......

The blog is sick!  Something that has to do with Picasa (and the possibility that I deleted a file) and unfortunately, I am not that savvy enough to fix it...easily.

Early next week, I'll take a crack at re-uploading some lost photos so until then, please be patient!

Enjoy!

On the Mend!

Why on earth am I smiling?

We are on the mend around the Rebecca Lane household!

I had an interesting adventure in "day" surgery on Monday for a fairly routine procedure.  Grateful that I don't have cancer or need to spend anymore than a few hours in the hospital on a regular basis.  I feel so very blessed for my great health!

However, if you do need to spend anytime in the hospital, Providence St. Vincent is a very nice facility with some really wonderful doctors and nurses (trust me, I've watched a lot of hospital dramas in my life).

Aside from the years of wonderful advice General Hospital has given me, the most important thing I can take away from my adventure is to have a Medical Advocate with you at all times.

Chick drove me to and from the hospital (very important since I was knocked out on happy juice), she was there to hear from the doctor when my surgery was over and she listened to the nurses instructions upon my discharge.

I didn't plan on needing to spend 2 1/2 days off work (I thought I was Super Woman, apparently I am NOT).  Heavy narcotics and anesthesia really do a number on your body, not to mention the surgery.  Remember to take a few days off to rest.  Your body heals better when you are tucked into bed, with the Food Network on and a warm kitty at your feet.

P.S. Keikei has recovered from whatever ailed her.  She was the perfect companion and never left my side for two days.

Enjoy!

Sick Keikei

Just over a month ago, poor little Sammy was ill.  This time, it's Sweet Keikei.

One again, thoughts and prayers for our household are greatly appreciated!

She's at the vet receiving the best possible care money can buy (yikes).

I'll keep you posted.

Sammy

I'd like to ask the blogging universe for a kind thought or a chant or a prayer for my darling little boy, Sammy.

Last week, Brian noticed that he was not acting normal and on Friday we took him to the West Seattle Animal Hospital for a check-up.

Although his tests all came back normal, his symptoms mimic what we believe to be some sort of neurological condition, possibly a mild stroke.

After much thought, we've decided to seek the advice of a feline neurologist and will be taking Sammy for a consultation later this week.

Please keep our family in your thoughts.

Un-Broken

Last weekend something happened to sweet Keikei's tail.

We left her in the care of our neighbor, but she refused to come inside at night and spent Saturday night outside roaming around.  When I got home on Sunday, I immediately noticed that her tail was dragging and she wouldn't let anyone near her back-end or near her tail.

We thought she was either chased or bitten (or God forbid, both) so Wednesday morning, even though she seemed happy, was eating normal and still had plenty of purrs...I took her to the vet.

August 2012

She didn't like the pretty pink box.  She didn't like the ride to the vet in the back seat of the Bronze Goddess...and she really disliked the vet.

She cried the entire car ride which made me cry the entire car ride. The whole experience broke my heart.  I totally understand now, that I would have never been cut out to have children...every little scrape or bump and I would have been institutionalized!

Keikei is home now....resting.  Hopefully the traumatic experience will be wiped clean from her memory.

Oh, and her tail ended up being fine (can you believe it?)....perhaps a bruise and nothing more.

Enjoy!
