Old Photo Friday: Stacy and Tera 1985
WHO: Stacy and Tera Dschaak (James)
WHAT: Birthday Dinner
WHERE: Eugene, OR
WHEN: April 24, 1985 (16th Birthday)
1985 was a good year. I often times wish that I had the knowledge that I have today and I could build a time machine and go back for one more day. One more Memorial Building dance. One more late night gossip session with Tera....listening to Cocteau Twins and solving the worlds problems (which were not really problems at all)....all while channeling the inner soul of Molly Ringwald.
This 16 year old had no idea at the time what 50 would look or feel like. As I am living out my 50th year, I still don't know what 50 looks or feels like...but I sure am enjoying the adventure.
Enjoy!

WHO: Allen and Ann Lee
WHERE: At the Elementary School where Ann was Secretary for over 30 years
WHEN: Mid 1990's
Brian texted me the other day that it was the 12th anniversary of his father's passing. I couldn't hardly believe that 12 years had gone by.
Out of the three Lee boys, I see Brian more and more each day in his father's face and especially his eyes.
We miss you every day.

Old Photo Friday: Happy Birthday, Pop
WHO: Pop and Stacy
WHERE: Sea Lion Caves, Florence, Oregon
WHEN: 1977
This picture brings me such joy and such sadness. It was taken shortly after my parents separated when my father was first tackling the challenges of raising a daughter as a single parent in the late 70's. He did an amazing job and for that I am eternally grateful.
Happy 75th Birthday, Pop!
Much Love,
Stacy

Old Photo Friday: Crowe Family Christmas 1980
WHO: Lowell Crowe, Evan Crowe and Nick Manley
WHERE: E. 27th Street in Eugene, OR
WHEN: Christmas Eve, 1980 (best guess)
Bittersweet memories. Lowell and Evan have both been gone for many years as is the family matriarch, Wilma who passed away at the age of 100 a few months ago. Little Nick is married with two daughters of his own.
No Christmas Eve was complete without a visit to Evan and Wilma's (my father's second family). I get goose bumps when I think of the year that our good friend Sten, dressed up like Santa Claus and in the middle of the Christmas Eve celebrations...threw open the front door, let out a loud, "ho ho ho", handed Nick a Christmas presents and disappeared.
You see.... in the end, all we are left with are the memories of love, joy, family and friendships. These are closest to our hearts at Christmas Time.
Enjoy!

Old Photo Friday: Merry Christmas, 1980
WHO: Stacy Dare Brady
WHEN: December 1980 (I look to be about 11)

Clearly I am not happy. If you recall this Christmas classic, then you know why.
I also think that this was the year my Dad bought me a training bra for Christmas.
Enjoy!

Old Photo Friday: Family Christmas, 1985
WHO: Frank Suter, Sandra Suter, Steve Suter and Stacy Brady ( I have no idea who the little girl in the back is)
WHEN: Christmas Day, 1985
WHERE: E Street, Springfield, OR
I think this is one of the only times that Frank was at our house for Christmas (the other being when my parent's hosted in 1974). I remember that this was the year we had a dusting of snow on a ground (but it didn't snow on Christmas) and it was bitterly cold. I can tell by the look on Sandra and Steve's face how much they love their father.
Sorry the flash shined off my braces!
Enjoy!

Old Photo Friday: Happy Halloween
WHO: Stacy
WHAT: Halloween
WHERE: E Street
WHEN:1978-1979
Happy Halloween! This was one of my most favorite constumes created by my Pop. He made the hobo pack out of an old broom handle and packed the red hankerchief with newspaper. He smoked half the cigar and gave me the end. He had Grandma Cavey sew a patch on an old sweatshirt for me to wear, cut the fingers off an old pair of gloves and put soot from the fireplace on my face as stubble. What a Dad!
Enjoy!

Old Photo Friday: Outer Banks, N.C.
WHO: Jennifer Dare Hanselman (Mom)
WHERE: Outer Banks, North Carolina
WHEN: October 2009
Bitter sweet post for several reasons. The outer banks, North Carolina are getting hammered by Hurricane Florence. It made me think about the beautiful day and the wonderful drive we took from Portsmouth, Virginia to the outer banks in October 2009 with my Mom and Kenny. Bucket list place and my heart aches for the devastation.
This week, my Mom and Kenny move from Seattle (where they have lived for 37 years) to Eugene.
Goodbyes are hard. Change is all around us. Better times are ahead for all of us.
Enjoy,
Stacy
