47/52: Thanksgiving

We had a wonderful family Thanksgiving long weekend last week.

41/52: Getting Ready for Halloween

We decorated the house last weekend for Halloween. Next to Christmas, I think we have almost as much stuff to put outside.  This year, Brian added a graveyard out front where he built the planter for the summer geraniums and lighthouse.  At night, it's spooky!

We took a wonderful chilly walk through Lincoln Park, before heading into the city to find a place to watch the Ducks/Huskies and eat an amazing fish burger. The Ducks won so I was happy.

We also had the pleasure of meeting Zaid Abdul Aziz (formerly known as Don Smith) a former Iowa State University and NBA basketball player.  Amazing man with an incredible gift not only in basketball, but a much greater gift with words (he is a talented author).  He was quite taken with Brian's love of sports and incredible knowledge of sports history.

42/52: Pumpkin Patch

The rains have returned, so we drove cautiously to Seattle Friday night and stopped off at Red Wind Casino for a wonderful dinner.

Saturday it rained....ALL....DAY....LONG!  To the grand total of over 2 inches of rain.  A perfect PJ, sports, crock pot chili and 2 PM nap kinda day.

I must say, I was a bit apprehensive about the pumpkin patch on Sunday, but the skies cleared and it was a beautiful day with our friends.

38/52: Last M's Game of the Season

We had a fun filled weekend in Seattle with Chick including our last M's game of the summer.

Friday night, Chick and I did a West Seattle pub crawl and checked out three new places, Nook, Alchemy and The Lodge.  Each one a bit different, but great places to people watch and have a glass of wine.

Saturday's game was fun!  It started out with Bloody Mary's and ended with an M's loss (but each of us went to the team store and came home with a treasure from our afternoon adventure).

46/52: Molbak's

Last Saturday was out annual trip to Molbak's in Woodinville.  We go every year (check out 2010, 2012, and 2014) and we come home with a few treasures despite telling ourselves that we have more than enough Christmas decorations!

Since we did not go last year, we were both really excited to see what new displays and items we might find.  We were not disappointed!

43/52: The Pumpkin Patch in Snohomish

Last weekend was our annual trek out to Snohomish, Washington to the pumpkin patch with our friends, the Seymours.

We've been coming to the pumpkin patch since before their children were born, and this year their oldest turned 8...so it's an annual tradition that I am quite fond of.

We had a wonderful day and the sun was actually quite warm (unlike last year's rain).

We took home three big pumpkins for the front porch and a few smaller ones for inside. I don't think we will carve a pumpkin this year because we will not be in West Seattle on Halloween.

Sunday we took a walk to Lincoln Park.  I was tired, but the fresh air gave my spirit a lift before flying back to Portland to start the week.

41/52: A quiet weekend in West Seattle

I've been craving some home time after a few very busy weeks.  While we had a wonderful celebration in Eugene followed by hosting Chick for the last M's game of the season......I've been looking forward to a fall Saturday at home.

Then, Sammy got sick......

As of today, he's hanging in there and really trying to get better, but it's extremely stressful as pet parents to go through the process of having a sick animal.

We did manage to take a walk to Lincoln Park on Sunday.  The colors throughout the park are not to be missed and although I did not meet my fitness goals for the week, Sunday's walk (and Saturday's indoor workout) were both helpful on a mental level as well as physical.

40/52: Last Mariner's Game of the Season

Chick drove up with me on Friday night for a weekend in West Seattle and our last Mariner's game of the season. Saturday morning we had breakfast with Mom and Kenny, before heading out to Safeco Field.

Unfortunately, it was a cool and wet Saturday evening (good thing Safeco has a retractable roof), but we had a great time at the game despite the fact that the Mariner's were mathematically eliminated from the Wild Card race with a 9-8 loss to the Oakland Athletics. 

It was by far, one of the best games of the year and the M's played tough the final few weeks of the season.

Sunday we drove home early to catch Vin Scully's last broadcast which was bittersweet. Saying goodbye is never easy, but Vin did it with grace.  I'll miss him, but for now...I am ready for the playoffs.  Go Dodgers!

38/52: College Football and Fall Decorations

Okay, it's almost fall.  I give!

It's hard to believe.....how fast time goes by now.  It just seems like yesterday we were putting away the Christmas decorations and in like just over 2 months from now we will be digging them out again!

I decorated for fall this past weekend.  Saturday was dark, windy and wet.....the most perfect day to be at home.

We watched some college football which seems so foreign to me.  I am in deep denial that it's not the middle of June.

Sunday before driving down to Portland, I tried a new breakfast recipe that we both really loved.  Hash browns in a waffle iron...who knew?!

48/52: Thanksgiving Weekend

We had a quiet Thanksgiving weekend at Rebecca Lane this year...Brian, Chick and I.  This year, Pop, Rosemary and Steve spent Thanksgiving (and Aunt Judy's birthday) in Ohio. Our table may have been small, but we had a wonderful and relaxing day with lots of good food and laughs.  

Our LONG weekend kicked off with our traditional Italian food night on Wednesday, after all the prep cooking was completed....it was time for a few glasses of wine and some good food and music. This year, Brian made a lasagna from scratch and it was really good.

Thanksgiving Day was a bit of the Marcy's parade, a 6 pound Black Friday newspaper, good food, football, naps, and Charlie Brown's Thanksgiving Special.  

Friday, Sandra and Brian hung Christmas lights on the house and we all enjoyed a nacho bar and an Oregon Ducks Civil War victory!

Brian left for Seattle early on Saturday morning and Sandra and I began to decorate the house for Christmas. This year, we concentrated on everything but the trees on Saturday. It only took us a few hours, but in the end we were glad that we started early so we could enjoy the rest of the day including binge watching Christmas movies on the Hallmark Channel in our jammies!

Sunday we finished up the decorations on the outside including a laser light with lights shinning on our garage, courtesy of Home Depot ($39.95) and fulling decorating two Christmas trees!

Now our house is completely ready for the holidays and we will be able to enjoy the decorations each night when we get home from work.

45/52: Halloween Weekend in West Seattle

Last Thursday night, I arrived in Seattle for the Halloween weekend!

Brian and I had drinks and dinner at The Lodge, just down the street from the Amtrak Station using a Living Social coupon that is set to expire this week!  We got $30 of food and drink for $15, so not a bad way to cut down on the bill.

Friday was a quiet day at home!  Thank you Serena at Chill Massage for an amazing 60 minute therapy massage.  I then made a huge batch of crockpot chili for dinner and it was nice to spend a Friday evening with Brian who had to work downtown this week.

Saturday kicked off the Official Holiday Season!  The day was dark and wet, with a bit of clearing at dusk.  We carved our pumpkin for the front porch, lit candles and set the mood for our little Halloween party complete with a spooky mix of music and Halloween sounds ranging from howling ghosts and scary winds to murmuring mummies and creaking crypt doors!

After some wine and passing out candy to 31 kiddies, we made our traditional Halloween pizzas then dove straight into the leftover candy!  

Sunday was an Italian feast and Seahawk football at my Mom and Kenny's.  Brian made a wonderful lasagna from scratch and Mom and Kenny made salad and bread.  A magnificent way to end the weekend!
