6/52: Epic Snow in Seattle
We had an Epic weekend snow event in Seattle the second weekend of February.
If you are going to get 9 inches of snow, let it start falling at noon on Friday! I can't tell you how fun it was to lie on the couch with my laptop, watching the snow fall.
It continued snowing for almost 24 hours and we had the most amazing blue sky on Saturday afternoon and we managed to walk 6 blocks up to our local pub, which was packed!
Sunday afternoon it started snowing again and we got another 3 inches on top of the 7 inches that fell Friday/Saturday.
On Monday morning, Brian and I walked down to the bus stop and I was able to get down to the Amtrak Station and get to Portland before Seattle got yet another round of snow showers and another 2 inches.
Enjoy!

Winter wonderland pictures of where you live!
We don't live in a winter wonderland, unfortunately...but we did get some snow last January (the most we've had in over 8 years).
It would be great to have a white Christmas in Seattle this year. Let's cross our fingers for some snow this holiday season.
Enjoy,

6/52
For the 6th week of the year!
Snow in Portland! A rare February storm with bitterly cold temps brought powder fine snow last week. In the end, we had about 3 inches on Thursday and another 2-3 inches on Friday and Saturday, but it was hard to tell as it was blowing and drifting so much.
Then, the snow moved north to Seattle on Saturday night!
I turned the Christmas lights on for one special night in the snow!
Sunday we took a walk in our neighborhood in search of snowmen!
Enjoy!

West Seattle Weekend Wrap Up: SNOW!

Not much for Marco Polo and I to do in January after a blow-out holiday season. I fought another round of crud over the weekend, but was delighted to see the snowfall on Sunday afternoon.
We got about 3 inches in West Seattle and it was just beautiful!

Round two of the snow is expected later this week. Our La Nina winter has finally arrived.

What are your thoughts on snow? Pretty? Dysfunctional? Do you love it or dread it?
Enjoy!

Old Photo Friday: Hot Dog Ski Bum

WHO: Diamond Jim "Hot Dog Ski Bum" Brady (AKA....my Pop)
WHAT: Showing off; ready for the first run of the day
WHERE: Cascades.....my guess is Willamette Pass just east of Springfield, OR
WHEN: Mid to late -70's
My Pop use to downhill quite a bit in the 70's. My dear Aunt Pat's daughter, Candy married a Sweden named Sten and I remember as a kid hearing stories of my Pop skiing with Sten in the Cascades. Perhaps this is one of their skiing trips.
Enjoy!

Let it snow....let it snow....let it snow!
My 8 miles commute last night took me two hours! Chick had to abandon her car downtown and rely on the kindness of strangers she met at the local pub to drive her home.
Can you say "freak" drive-time snow storm!? No one saw this coming!!
I had a lot of time on my hands in the car.....
Enjoy!

More Snow!
We are probably in the air about now......flying down to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico for a week of fun in the sun, but I wanted to share some photos with you from last weekend.
Last Sunday evening we had another snow event. Very out of the blue.....this one only lasted a few hours (and was melted by the morning commute), but we managed to receive another 2 inches (on top of a very snowy winter in the Portland/Pacific NW).
I just love to watch the falling snow. It's so beautiful.
Enjoy!

SNOW!!!!
This is unbelievable.....but wonderful all at the same time. In my entire life, I have never seen this much snow for such a long period of time in Portland or Seattle.
Oh...we've had snow, but on the ground for an entire week (and more) is almost unheard of in these parts. Brian is an old pro, and says it reminds him of his childhood in Delaware, but I've never experienced this before.
The snow seems to bring out all sorts of weird things......
A big raccoon was spotted at Rebecca Lane at Thanksgiving time, and I finally got him to pose the day before we left Portland for Seattle (on our Christmas vacation).
We gratefully made it from PDX to Seattle - ahead of the next big storm, which hit about dusk on Saturday evening (on top of a 5 inch layer of snow from last Thursday).Brian says....
The most enjoyable part of our day, was a walk through West Seattle - exploring our neighborhood in a light snowfall made for a very memorable day.
Wherever this post finds you....
"Oh....my kingdom for a snow shovel! I hear by declare....I will not shovel again. I have found the cause of this record snowfall. For every time I shovel, it only snows again. Therefore, if I do not shovel .....it will snow no more".

Check out these photos I just took.
Enjoy!

SNOW DAY!!!!!!!!!!!

Look what we woke up to this morning!!!!! It started snowing at 5AM and it's been officially declared a SNOW DAY in the Portland area. No school and no work (unless my boss comes and gets me).
Brian had an additional 2-3 inches in Tacoma, but drove into the office for at least part of the day. We are both so grateful that this latest winter storm didn't hit 24 hours earlier when we were flying home for the bay area.

Let it snow.....let it snow.....let it snow!
HAPPY MONDAY!
Brian's flight to St. Louis looks to be on time and he just made it through security at 7:00 am for his 7:30 flight! Close call!
Track his flight today: American Airlines Flight 0456 from Seattle to St. Louis
http://www.flytecomm.com/cgi-bin/trackflight
I-5 is closed at Centralia, WA in both directions as the snow and black ice is really bad north. Brian said the drive to the airport was "pretty bad".
But.....will we get any snow at Rebecca Lane?
