19/52: Mother's Day Weekend

So many good things packed into a longer weekend.

It was my first Friday working remotely from Seattle.  A bit hit and miss.  I missed my second computer screen and slower connections speeds.  I loved an extra long lunch and taking a fresh air break to read my book on the front porch.  

Saturday was filled with walks and shopping...then some time pulling weeds and laying bark the Secret Garden...followed by a yummy curry and some gelato in Wallingford with friends.

Sunday was a beautiful Mother's Day brunch cooked by Brian.  My table setting honored some of the women in our lives, china from a great-great Aunt, Ann Lee's Silver (Brian's mom) and water glasses given to me by Grandma Phyllis (Rosemary's Mother).  Mom and Kenny brought their dog, Bella and we had a great day!

15/52: After the Storm

Friday was a big whopper of a storm in Portland.  High winds brought trees down across the city and plunged thousands into darkness (no power at my office all day and no power at home for 15 hours). We made it north to Seattle in the evening where the storm was not as powerful and Saturdays skies were mostly clear.  It was the calm after the storm.

We met an adorable puppy named Sparky on Sunday.  The newest member of our good friend's family.  It reminded me how much I miss Sammy...and all on the heels of learning Thursday that our Portland kitty Keikei has diabetes and is not feeling well.  Hard times are ahead for her and for our family as we adjust to her diagnosis.

The winds of change are blowing.

18/52: Reunions

I received a Facebook invitation a few months ago reminding me about the annual 80's reunion and dance party in Eugene, OR.  I've always wanted to go, but for some reason, my schedule was never free. 

This year, one of my oldest and dearest friends, Tera invited me to spend the night at her home in Eugene so that we could go together.  

Saturday night was a blast!  There were people that I hung out with everyday in my teens, that I had not seen in 30 years.  It was so great to reconnect with so many people that shaped my teenage years.

Who says that you can't go home again!?  

Thanks again, Tera for hosting me and sharing your boy Boo Radley with me.  Boo is my new best friend!

Rest in peace, sweet Basha Noel. Mom and Kenny's dog passed away earlier in the week. I know your hearts are heavy.

New Friend

I picked up a new client and a new friend this week. Meet Phoebe!

She's a very sweet Golden Retriever and I am house-sitting for her and her "sisters", Baxter, Gabby and Sophie (three cats) this week.

Phoebe loves to go for walks and Brian and I took her to the "secret woods" on Monday night where she explored and chased the ball! Brian was a big help as Phoebe is a bit neurotic, but very sweet. She'll be a handful for me this week.

Greenlake - Sunny Sunday

Brian (the Dog father) and I looked after Elliott and Kui over the weekend as Sonja and Geoff are in England visiting family.

We took the dogs to Greenlake for a walk on Sunday afternoon. It was a beautiful day in Seattle and Brian and I loved being in the city once again.

After Emerald Downs on Saturday, we walked from Sonja and Geoff's to the 74th Street Ale House one of Brian's favorite pubs.

We had a great dinner (their chicken breast sandwhich has been voted one of the best in Seattle) and a few ales to wash it all down with. Fun day!

Greenlake

We spent some time this weekend walking around and enjoying the early spring.

We caught up with the Seymour's on Saturday morning at Greenlake for the first time this year.

It's fun to walk around Greenlake with people who have dogs!

Despite the gloom (and a few raindrops), some of the spring flowers around the lake are starting to explode.

Beagle wins Westminster dog show!

Barking up a storm, Uno lived up to his name Tuesday by becoming the first beagle to win best in show at the Westminster Kennel Club.

I couldn't quite make it until 11:00PM last night when Uno was crowned, but I taped it and watched it this morning before I got out of bed!

The nation’s new top dog was clearly the crowd favorite at Madison Square Garden. He wagged his tail and jumped on his handler, clearly excited about winning the prize!

Gone To The Dogs!

The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show starts tonight! It’s a two-day show that takes place at Madison Square Garden every year. Dog owners from around the world come to show their dogs and it is considered by many to be America's most prestigious dog show.

The 132nd WKC Dog Show airs on USA Network beginning at 8PM.

Last year’s winner was an English Springer Spaniel named Champion Felicity's Diamond Jim (aka:"James" ).

Brian and I would LOVE to have a dog. How about one of these......
